IRVINE, Calif. – For the fifth time in nine weeks, University of Hawai'i setter
Tread Rosenthal was named the Big West's Freshman of the Week following his performance in a two-match series sweep of Sacred Heart.
Rosenthal has added to his program-record for freshman weekly awards.
Guilherme Voss had the previous mark of three set in 2020.
Rosenthal averaged 9.00 assists per set while leading the Rainbow Warriors to a .366 hitting percentage in the series. The Manhattan Beach, Calif., native also averaged 1.00 digs and 0.83 blocks per set and had a team-best five aces.
In the series opener, he dished out 25 assists along with three blocks two digs, and one ace. Two nights later, he recorded 29 assists, four aces, four digs, and two blocks.
Rosenthal currently leads the Big West in both aces per set (0.578) and ranks No. 2 in assists per set (9.96), both of which ranks No. 6 and 8, respectively, in the country. As a team, UH ranks No. 1 nationally in hitting percentage (.408).
Rosenthal and the Rainbow Warriors conclude their 11-match homestand by hosting the 28
th OUTRIGGER Invitational, Thursday, March 7 through Sunday, March 10 at SimpliFi Arena. The tournament features No. 1 Grand Canyon, No. 3 UH, No. 5 UC Irvine, and No. 14 Lewis.
