STANFORD/HAYWARD, Calif. – The Hawai'i women's track and field team wrapped up the opening day of competition of a split squad weekend at the Stanford Invitational and Mike Fanelli Classic on a cool and rainy day in the Bay Area Friday.
Emilie Kirk Langschwager closed out the opening day of competition in the Bay Area by posting the No. 2 time in school history in the outdoor 5000m. The freshman ran a 16:47.86 to finish sixth in the race and become just the third Rainbow Wahine runner ever to run a sub-17 minute outdoor 5k.
Freshman
Isabella Kneeshaw provided one of the highlights at the Stanford Invitational, posting the No. 6 mark in program history with a time of 55.61 in the 400m. Kneeshaw finished sixth in that event while also posting a 12th-place finish in the 100m in 12.17 seconds.
Hallee Mohr led the way for the Rainbow Wahine throwers at Stanford, placing fourth in the shot put with a toss of 14.22m (46-8.00).
Sammie Gordon built off her strong start to the season in the hurdle events by coming in 10th in the 400m hurdles in 1:01.46.
Danielle Baumann led a solid performance by the UH jumpers at the Mike Fanelli Classic, finishing fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.30m (17-4.75). She added another strong performance by the UH jumpers by finishing second in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 10.98m (36-0.25).
Allison Bliss (5.17m, 16-11.50) and
Jessica Mackenzie (5.07m, 16-7.75) both also jumped over 5.00m in the long jump.
Rose Forshaw picked up a win for the Rainbow Wahine in the discusk throw at the Mike Fanelli Classic with a toss of 42.53m (139-6.00) on her first attempt. Forshaw also led a 2-4-6 finish in the javelin following a toss of 35.76m (117-4.00) with
Catherine Touchette (32.96m, 108-2.00) and
Grace Blanchette (32.22m, 105-8.00) also posting top-six finishes.
