HONOLULU – The Hawai'i women's track and field team will look to keep a strong start to outdoor season going when it heads to the Bay Area for a split-squad weekend at the Stanford Invitational and Mike Fanelli Classic Friday and Saturday.
The Rainbow Wahine will send the entire distance squad to the Mike Fanelli Classic, hosted by San Francisco State, while a mix of student-athletes from the rest of the events will head to both meets.
UH opened the outdoor season with a strong showing at the Hornet Invitational. The Rainbow Wahine posted 10 new entries to the school's top 10 list while four athletes delivered Big West-leading marks.
Tara Wyllie earned Big West Field Athlete of the Week recognition after taking home the win in the triple jump with a mark of 12.69m (41-7.75). The sophomore leads the Big West and currently sits in 16th place nationally.
Helen Hoadley soared into third on the UH all-time list in the pole vault, clearing 4.05m (13-3.50) to sit in second place in the conference.
Sammie Gordon moved up the program top 10 in both hurdle events, claiming the No. 5 spot in the 400m hurdles with a Big West-leading time of 59.81 while moving into 10th in school history with a 14.48 in the 100m hurdles.

Emilie Kirk Langschwager paced the UH distance crew with the No. 5 time by a Rainbow Wahine in the 1500m at 4:30.50.
Following this weekend's action in the Bay Area, Hawai'i will have a week off before heading to Southern California for the Bryan Clay Invitational, Apr. 11-13.
