Track & Field Closes Hornet Invitational with More Top 10s

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Hawai'i women's track and field team capped off the opening meet of the outdoor season by posting a host of more program top 10 marks on Saturday at the Hornet Invitational.

The Rainbow Wahine relay squad of Kristin Cook, Amy Warrington, Alyssa Mae Antolin and Isabella Kneeshaw got the action on the track started with the third-best 4x100m relay in school history. The UH relay team got around the track in 46.24 seconds to run the program's fastest relay in 39 years, with the only two faster times in school history coming in 1983 and 1985.

Sammie Gordon added her name to the school 100m hurdles top 10 list, running a PR of 14.48 seconds to move into the No. 10 spot. Gordon then came back and ran another top-10 time in the 400m hurdles, this time moving into fifth in school history getting around in 59.81 seconds to place second in the meet.

Warrington improved upon her already sixth-best time at UH in the 400m dash, running a 56.39, while Isabella Kneeshaw cracked the 100m top 10 list with a time of 12.11 to move into ninth.

Emilie Kirk Langschwager paced the Hawai'i distance crew with a program top-10 time in the 1500m. Langschwager moved into fifth all-time at UH in the event with a 4:30.50 to finish 10th in the meet.

A pair of Rainbow Wahine throwers turned in strong finishes in the shot put. Rose Forshaw finished runner-up with a toss of 13.87m (45-6.25) on her second attempt while Valo Sopoaga reached the finals and came in seventh in her first collegiate outdoor meet with a throw of 13.07m (42-10.75) on her third try.

Three UH throwers also reached the finals in the discus, led by Hallee Mohr who came in second with a mark of 52.08m (170-10) on her third throw. Samaria Vital came in seventh with a toss of 44.55m (146-2) while Forshaw rounded out the trio in the top nine with a PR throw of 42.94m (140-10) to come in ninth.

The Rainbow Wahine are in action next with a split-squad weekend at the Mike Fanelli Classic (Mar. 28-30) in San Francisco and the Stanford Invitational (Mar. 29-30).
