Men’s Basketball Signs Talented Prep Guard

HONOLULU - University of Hawai'i men's basketball head coach Eran Ganot announced the signing of prep guard Hunter Carter. Carter will join the team next season with four years of eligibility.

The 6-5, 190-pound Carter is a native of Tacoma, Wash., and is currently playing his final high school season at Rosemary Anderson Prep in Oregon. He spent the previous two seasons playing for Accelerated Prep in Colorado. There he averaged nearly 20 points per game while competing in the  Grind Session's Power Conference, facing some of the  top high school basketball teams in the country, including the likes of Utah Prep and Prolific Prep (Calif.).

"Hunter is a highly talented guard with great size who can score and facilitate at an elite level," said Ganot. "He's an impactful and exciting addition and will be a key building block for our future. In addition to his skill and athleticism on the floor, Hunter's a young man of high character with an engaging personality. We're thrilled to bring him aboard and can't wait to have our fans see him on the court next year."

Carter started his high school career at Annie Wright High School in his native Washington.  As a sophomore he averaged 20.8 points per game, 5.1 assists per game, 5.6 rebounds per game, and 3.9 steals per game.

During his prep career he's earned numerous accolades.  He was a Nisqually all-league first team selection, MVP of Stephen Curry's 2023 Underrated Tour, and was named to the Grind Session Power Play-In All Tournament Team
