FRESNO, Calif. — The University of Hawai'i women's dive team wrapped up the Fresno State Invitational on Saturday with the 1-meter dive. The 'Bows put together another strong day with multiple finishes in the Top 10 at the Fresno State Aquatics Center.
The Rainbow Wahine were led by freshmen Macie Wheeler and Lovisa Gustavsson who both finished in the Top 3 of the 1-meter dive. Wheeler concluded her outstanding debut weekend placing second with a mark of 254.15, finishing in the Top 3 in every event she participated in. Gustavsson placed right behind Wheeler in third posting a mark of 250.55.
Sophomore Ruby Pickron finished in fifth place with a mark of 240.25 and freshman Avery Coates placed in ninth posting a mark of 218.20. With all four divers finishing in the Top 10, UH had the most divers in the Top 10 amongst all teams represented in the event for a second straight day. All four divers placed in the Top 10 of the 3-meter dive yesterday.
The 'Bows finished the invite with eight Top 10 finishes including four Top 3 finishes in individual competitions. The Rainbow Wahine also placed in second during yesterday's team springboard event.
UH men's and women's swim teams will open their season next week at the USC Invitational (Oct. 11-12). The dive teams will return to action in three weeks in a dual meet with Grand Canyon at the Duke (Oct. 25-26).
