Nelson, Gustavsson Compete at NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

ATLANTA—University of Hawai'i swimmer Holly Nelson and diver Lovisa Gustavsson both competed at the 2026 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center.

Nelson, a senior from Sydney, Australia, won her heat of the 50 free with a time of 22.38. But the time would not hold up and she did not advance to the even finals on Friday night.  Her NCAA automatic qualifying time of 22.28, achieved at the Big West Championships, ranks as the second-fastest time in program history.

Nelson concludes her collegiate career as one of the program's most decorated swimmers. She was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Freshman of the Year honors in 2023, earned 26 all-conference honors, led the Rainbow Wahine to three conference titles (2023, '24, and '26), and made two appearances in the NCAA Championships (2023 and '26).

Gustavsson placed 26th in the 3-meter dive, posting a preliminary score of 290.40. After a slow start, the Gothenburg, Sweden native finished strong, earning three consecutive scores of 50+ points.

UH's men's swimming and diving team will compete in the NCAA Championships from March 25-28 at the McAuley Aquatic Center. Karol Ostrowski, Tom Thalau, and Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo will represent the Rainbow Warriors.
