KAPOLEI, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team carded a second round 4-over 292 Tuesday at the 27
th Rainbow Wahine Invitational at the Kapolei Golf Club.
The Rainbow Wahine currently moved up to ninth place in the team standings heading into Wednesday's final round. Colorado State and Kansas State share the lead at 564 followed by UC Irvine, who is five strokes back. KSU erased an 11-stroke lead by CSU to move into a share of first place.
CSU's Lacey Uchida continues to hold the individual lead at 9-under 135 however her lead shrunk to one shot as KSU's Carla Bernat is one stroke back after a second round 5-under 67. Nevada's Gabby Kano and Grand Canyon's Alyzzah Vakasiuola are three strokes back and tied for third place.
Maline Kraus and
Kellie Yamane each carded 1-under 71 to lead the Rainbow Wahine. Kraus is tied for 32
nd at 2-over 146 while Yamane is tied for 42
nd at 5-over 149 along with
Emiko Sverduk (74) and
Varnika S. Achanta (78).
Wendy Song is tied for 49
th at 6-over 150.
Competing as an individual, UH's
Mia Hirashima also shot 1-under 71 and is tied for 32
nd at 2-over 146. Also participating are
Sofina Firouzi (78=155; t-75
th),
Maddie Dustin (79=158; t-81
st), and
Lauren Pierce (81=159; t-83
rd).
The tournament continues on Wednesday with a 9:00 a.m. HT shogun start.
