KAPOLEI, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team sits in a tie for 11
th place following the first round of the 27
th Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Monday at the Kapolei Golf Club.
The Rainbow Wahine carded a 7-over 295 and is tied with North Dakota State. Colorado State shot a blistering 12-under 276 and holds the team lead by eight strokes over UC Irvine (284) followed by Japan's Osaka Gakuin (286), Austin Peay (286), and Nevada (286).
CSU's Lacey Uchida has the individual lead at 8-under 64 followed by Nevada's Nikki Chindavong (66) and group of three others at 68 – Gonzaga's Chaewon Baek, Sacramento State's Ella Kraft, and Austin Peay's Jillian Breedlove.
Hawai'i's
Varnika S. Achanta was the lone Rainbow Wahine to shoot under par at 1-under 71 and is tied for 13
th place. The San Jose, Calif., native had steady round with 17 straight pars before posting birdie on her final hole, the par-4 No. 2.
Wendy Song shot 2-over 74 and is tied for 44
th place. Three others also made up the UH's squad –
