FULLERTON, Calif.— After a year of growth and progress, it all comes to a head on Friday as the University of Hawai'i track and field team will compete in the 2023 Big West Championships at the Titan Track Complex.
In 2022 the Rainbow Wahine recorded their highest finish ever in the Big West Championships, placing second with 108 points, finding the podium in 10 of 21 events. UH tallied three first-place finishes, three second-place finishes, and four third-place finishes while turning heads over the two-day event. UH enters as the defending champions in the 200m, 4 x 400, and discuss throw.
The 2023 campaign has been an interesting one for the 'Bows as they head to Fullerton leaders in four separate events. Junior
Alyssa Mae Antolin leads the way in the 200m at 22.38, breaking the UH record in the event back on April 13. Antolin will have several opportunities to make a difference as she competes in the 100m, 4 x 100, and 4 x 400.
The other events UH currently ranks first in are field events. Sophomore
Lilian Turban holds a significant lead in the high jump as she recently jumped 1.84m (6'0.5') at the OSU High Performance two weeks ago. The next-highest jumper is Elizabeth Churchill of UC Davis at 1.76m (5'9.25"). The other is the discus, as junior Halle Mohr recorded a distance of 53.21m (174'7") at the OSU High Performance.
Last week the 'Bows received a boost heading into championship weekend as UH tallied four points in the heptathlon. Junior

Catherine Touchette each recorded personal records in the event,
The action will begin on Friday at 7 a.m. HT with the hammer throw, followed by the long jump, discus, and high jump in the field events. Track events will feature the 3000m steeplechase, 100m dash, and 200m dash.
