LA QUINTA, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team carded a second round 299 at the Big West Championship Monday at the La Quinta Country Club.
Play was suspended due to excessive and unplayable conditions however the five-member Rainbow Warriors managed to complete their round with an 11-over total. UH currently sits in a tie for sixth place with UC Irvine at 592.
Long Beach State holds the lead with a 571 total followed by Cal State Fullerton (574) and CSUN (578). CSUN's Felix Schrott has the clubhouse lead at 5-under 139. UC Davis' Mark Stephens is also 5-under with two holes left to complete his second round.
Atsuya Oishi leads the UH contingent at 2-over 146 after his second straight 73. The Japan native is tied for 13
th place.
Remington Hirano is one stroke back at 3-over 147 following a second round 72 and tied for 15
th.
Blaze Akana is in 25
th place at 5-over 149 while
Josh Hayashida is tied for 35
th at 153.
Zachary Sagayaga substituted for
Tyler Ogawa and fired an 80.
Tuesday's final day of competition will begin with the completion of Round 2 followed by split tees beginning at 8:00 a.m. PT. UH will be paired with Cal Poly and UC Irvine off of hole No. 1.
