Women’s Golf In 11th Place At Cowgirl Classic

MARICOPA, Ariz. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team carded rounds of 296 and 311 on the first day of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, Monday at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
 
The Rainbow Wahine currently sit in 11th place with a 607 total in the 20-team field. Sacramento State is atop the team standings at 579 followed by UNLV (586) and UC Riverside (595).
 
Individually, Hyeonji Kang is tied for 12th at 3-over 147 with rounds of 73 and 74. Focus Jonglikit is one stroke back at 4-over 148 and tied for 17th place.
 
Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine are Wendy Song (154; t-42nd), Mayumi Umezu (158; t-70th), and Monica Johnson (165; t-97th).
 
UNLV's Nicole Lorup has a one stroke lead in the individual leaderboard at 3-under 141 over Sacramento State's Jennifer Koga.
 
The final round is scheduled for Tuesday with a 7:30 a.m. MT shotgun start.
