The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team will make its ninth NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship appearance and will face either Penn State, Ohio State or King in the national semifinals, Thursday, May 4, at 1:30 p.m. HT at George Mason's EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Va.
The two-time defending national champion Rainbow Warriors (28-2) earned the No. 2 overall seed and the Big West's automatic berth after defeating UC Irvine Saturday in the conference tournament finals in Irvine, Calif.
The seven-team tournament begins with opening round matches on April 30 and May 2 before the semifinals (May 4) and finals (May 6).
Mountain Pacific Sports Federation champion UCLA received the No. 1 overall seed and will face the winner of the Long Beach State-Grand Canyon opening round match. Both LBSU and GCU received at-large bids. Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association champion Penn State is the No. 3 seed and will play either Ohio State or King in Tuesday's opening round.
OSU earned the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association's automatic berth while King is Conference Carolina's representative.
UH is the two-time defending national champions having won its first title in 2021 in Columbus, Ohio and its second straight last season in Los Angeles, Calif. The Warriors will be looking to become the first team to win three consecutive titles since UCLA won four straight from 1981-84.
