LOS ANGELES, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i track and field team was back in action on Friday with the Bryan Clay Invitational at Cougar Stadium, picking up momentum with only three weeks away from the Big West Championships.
Junior
Hallee Mohr notched a victory as she won the invitational discus throw. The Raymond, Washington native finished with a distance of 49.86m (163'7), outdoing the second-place throw by over a meter. Graduate
Victoria Solheim recorded a season-best in the event at 46.06m (151'1), placing her in seventh overall.
Continuing the success in the throwing events, junior Montserrat Montanes I Arbo finished at No. 2 in the hammer throw with a mark of 56.73m (186'1). Solheim came in at No. 9, eclipsing her lifetime personal record at 52.71m (172'11).
Freshman
Catherine Touchette shined throughout the day as she recorded personal records in every event she competed in as a part of the heptathlon, including winning the 800m event. Touchette's time of 2:17.75 set a UH record in the 800m as a part of the heptathlon.
Junior
Sammie Gordon led the way in the heptathlon overall for the 'Bows as she finished 16
th overall, putting at No. 8 all-time at UH with a score of 4651.
UH will return on Saturday to wrap up the three-day event, with a multitude of events set to take place.
