Gustin Named Big West Pitcher of the Week

HONOLULU – Hawai'i left-handed pitcher Harry Gustin earned Big West Pitcher of the Week recognition after turning in a career outing on Friday night in a win over Tulane.

Gustin set the tone for the series with a dominant Friday night start, working a career-long seven innings with a career-high eight strikeouts while allowing just one run on one hit. The sophomore had a no-hitter going through six innings before giving up a leadoff solo homer to start the seventh, and allowed just two Tulane baserunners over his seven innings.

The Aurora, Colo., native has a 1.71 ERA and 24 strikeouts over 21.0 innings pitched in his last four starts, helping pitch UH to wins in each of those. On the season, Gustin leads the team with 26 strikeouts over 28.0 innings pitched with a 2-1 record and 3.54 ERA.

Gustin is the first Hawai'i player to earn Big West Pitcher of the Week honors since March 5, 2018 when Logan Pouelsen received the honor. He is also the first Rainbow Warrior to earn any Big West weekly honor since Dustin Demeter on May 3, 2021.
