Anuenue Spring Break Classic Returns To Ka‘anapali

HONOLULU – After a one-year layoff, the Ānuenue Spring Break Classic returns to Kā'anapali Golf Courses' Royal Course, March 27-29 in Kā'anapali, Maui. The University of Hawai'i women's golf team has hosted the tournament since 2012.

The Ānuenue Classic was last played in 2021, when the tournament moved to Kā'anapali after spending the first six years at Kapalua's Bay Course and one year at Waikoloa's Kings Course.

This year's field features 14 teams, including a pair of two-time Ānuenue champions 31st-ranked UCLA and UC Davis. UCLA captured titles in 2013 and '17 while Davis won in 2015 and '21.

Two other Top 50 teams are also competing, No. 24 Pepperdine and No. 43 Denver. Other participating teams include Boise State, Brigham Young, Cal Poly, Gonzaga, New Mexico State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Seattle, and Tulane

Participants will play 54 holes – 18 each day – at the 6,013-yard, par-72 Royal Course. Shotgun start is 8:00 a.m. each day.

The Bay Course hosted the tournament for six years, taking off in 2016 when Kapalua hosted the Big West Championship instead. The tournament moved to Hawai'i Island's Waikoloa Kings Course in 2019 when the Bay Course underwent renovation. The COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the 2020 event and the tournament returned in 2021 with a condensed field at Kā'anapali Golf Courses.

The tournament is the seventh for the Rainbow Wahine this season and third they are hosting including the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in October and Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational earlier this month. UH is coming off an eighth place at the Thompson Invite.

Hawai'i claimed a share of the Ānuenue Classic team title in 2018 while UH's Kaci Masuda became the program's first medalist at that year's event. UH placed runner-up in 2021. Monica Johnson is the only current Rainbow Wahine to compete in that event, with a tie for seventh place at 8-over 224.
