HONOLULU—The Big West offices announced on Tuesday
Alyssa Mae Antolin as the Track Athlete of the Week and Montserrat Montanes I Arbo as the Field Athlete of the Week, following their performances at the Cardinal Classic.
Antolin placed fourth in the 100m (11.88) and fifth in the 200m (24.06). Both of her times ranked her in the top six all-time at UH, plus she's fifth in the conference with the 100m while ranking first in the 200m. Adding to her stellar performance was the 4x400 relay as the 'Bows time of 3:49.24 ranks first in the Big West, and Antolin ran the fastest leg of the relay.
A year ago, Antolin claimed one weekly honor on April 5
th before being named the Co-Track Athlete of the Year by the conference following her sophomore season.
The field honor is the first in the career of Montanes I Arbo, as she has started off the outdoor season in a powerful way. The junior from Tarragona, Spain won the hammer throw with a distance of 57.36m, placing her first in the conference by a length of four meters. While sitting atop the Big West, she is 17
th in the West Region and climbing.
Antolin and Montanes I Arbo will return to action in a little over a week when they travel to San Francisco, California, for the Mike Fanelli Classic.
