HONOLULU – The No. 5 University of Hawai'i women's water polo team (13-2) returns home for the first time in more than two months for a two-day series of matches at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex. This weekend's competition includes No. 2 USC, Friday, March 17 and No. 22 San Diego State, Saturday, March 18. Both matches begin at 6:00 p.m.
The Rainbow Wahine (13-2) have played 12 matches on the road since opening the season at The Duke with the Rainbow Invitational. UH went 10-2 in those road matches which included last week's Big West opening wins over UC Santa Barbara and CSUN.
Last time Hawai'i squared off with USC (17-1) was in the 2022 regular season, where they lost by a 12-9 margin. The Wahine will be looking to snap a 25-match losing streak to the Trojans, who leads the season series 46-3. Hawai'i currently holds a 9-1 home advantage over San Diego State (7-12) with an all-time series record of 25-10.
The 'Bows are currently led in scoring by
Bia Mantellato Dias with 44 goals, followed by
Alba Bonamusa Boix (33) and
Lot Stertefeld (22).
Following this week's matches, UH continues its homestand with a conference match-up against Long Beach State, Thursday, March 23 and non-conference contest versus California, Saturday, March 25. Cal handed Hawai'i one of its two losses this season while the other was against No. 3 UCLA.
