Soccer Announces Three Signees To Class of 2023

HONOLULU – The Hawai'i soccer program announced the addition of three signees as a part of its Class of 2023 Thursday. Isabelle Ayala, a midfielder out of Nevada, Tatum Porter, a midfielder from Alaska and Riley Simpson, a defender out of Colorado will all join the program in the fall.  
 
"Our 2023 class, though intimate in size, is big in heart," said head coach Michele Nagamine. "All three signees have one thing in common - they possess a passion for the game that is unmatched. In a world of hammers and nails, I'm happy to say that we got three hammers!"

Four-year letterwinner at Green Valley High School … Played eight years of club soccer for the Las Vegas Sports Academy … Appeared in 51 career matches, totaling 19 goals and 16 assists for a total of 54 points during her career at Green Valley … Scored a pair of goals while adding an assist in 14 matches as a senior in 2022 … An honorable mention All-Southern Nevada selection as a junior in 2021 … Finished with nine points, scoring three goals and dishing out three assists while attempting 32 shots in 16 matches … Named second-team All-Southern Nevada as a freshman in 2019 … Turned in a stellar freshman year, scoring 14 goals and adding 12 assists for a total of 40 points, recording a point in all 17 of her 21 matches played.
 
Nagamine on Ayala: "Isabelle "Izzy" Ayala is a holding midfielder with a creative flare on the ball. She can cover a lot of ground and put bone-crunching tackles on opponents. She is not afraid to mix it up with anyone and I'm looking forward to seeing the physical presence she will bring in the midfield."

A three-year letterwinner at A.J. Dimond High School … Played eight years of club soccer for WYSA Valley Revolution … Helped lead Dimond HS to a DI state title as a junior in spring 2022 … Led the state in points, scoring 17 goals and adding 12 assists … Named to the DI state all-tournament team after scoring both of the team's goals in a 2-0 state championship victory … Led Dimond High to a DI state title as a sophomore in spring 2021 … Finished first in the state in points with 64, scoring 23 goals and dishing out 18 assists … Was coached by assistant coach Kaula Rowe while playing club soccer for Valley Revolution.
 
Nagamine on Porter: "Tatum Porter has one of the highest work rates I've seen in all of my years of coaching. She has an engine that won't quit and plays with a ton of grit. Tatum has the ability to both make plays for her teammates and score goals."
 
Riley Simpson, D, 5-9, Fort Collins, Colo. (Rocky Mountain HS)
Played 10 years of club for REAL Colorado … A part of the Colorado Olympic Development Program travel team for three years … Lettered three years at Rocky Mountain High School … Helped lead Rocky Mountain to a state 5A second round appearance in 2022 as a junior … An honorable mention All-Front Range League selection as a sophomore in 2021 after helping Rocky Mountain to a Front Range League title … Earned academic all-state selection as a sophomore … Selected to participate in the ECNL regional camp in Las Vegas in 2018 … Also a standout in track and field, competing in the long jump for Rocky Mountain HS.
 
Nagamine on Simpson: "Riley Simpson is the consummate center back. She is good in the air and understands her positional roles and responsibilities well. She possesses the ability to help organize our back line and also has the versatility to play holding mid."
