HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i softball team wrapped up the Fall Preseason Classic with a pair of wins. The Rainbow Wahine pulled away from Fullerton College, 7-2 then shutout Chaminade, 4-0 in the final game of the tournament on Sunday afternoon at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

UH starting pitcher Key-Annah Campbell-Pua fired 6-1/3 innings. She allowed one run on two hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. Campbell-Pua retired the final 12-straight batters she faced. Reliever
McKenna Kostyszyn gave up one run on one hit with a walk while getting final two outs.
The Hornets started the game scoring on a passed ball for the early 1-0 lead in the first.
Hawai'i responded by loaded the bases.

Ka'ena Keliinoi pushed her to second on a sacrifice bunt, but on the play a throwing error to first allowed Kellinoi to reach safely.
Izabella Martinez then drew a walk to load the bases. After an out, designated player
Haley Johnson battled at the plate then launched a grand slam to left-centerfield to give UH an instant 4-0 lead.
In the third, with runners at the corners and no outs,
Maycen Gibbs hit an RBI-groundout to second to score pinch-runner
Cierra Yamamoto from third. Shortstop Xiao Gin then drilled a triple to the right-center gap to drive in pinch-runner Keely Kai from second.
Dallas Millwood follwed by hitting a sacrifice fly to left to score Gin from third, extending UH's lead to 7-1.
Hawai'i threatened to score in the sixth. The 'Bows loaded the bases again but with two outs. Yamamoto hit a line shot back to the pitcher who snared it to end the rally and the inning.
Fullerton's Macy Brandl took the loss with a complete game effort. She allowed seven runs on si hits with four walks and eight strikeouts.

Hawai'i starter Addison Kostrencich fired a complete game shutout for her second win of the tournament. She threw seven complete innings allowing just three hits with no walks and one strikeout. She faced just 24 batters—three over the minimum.
Nakamura was beaned to lead off the home half of the first. Pinch runner Kai came in and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Keliinoi. Kai moved to third on a ground out by Martinez and then scored on a wild pitch.
Mya'Liah Bethea and Nakamura hit back-to-back doubles to begin the third inning. Nakamura's two-bagger hit high off the centerfield wall to drive in Bethea. Later Johnson laced an opposite field single through the left side of the infield to score Kai to extend UH's lead to 3-0.
With the bases loaded and one out in the sixth, Keliinoi lifted a sacrifice fly that drove in Madixx Muramoto from third for UH's final run.
Chaminade's Lopez took the loss tossing the first two innings, allowing three runs on two hits with a walk and a strikeout. Bailey Benson threw the next 3-1/3 innings giving up a run on six hits with a pair of walks. Ashley Ogata got the final two outs to end the sixth inning.
Hawai'i will open its 2024 regular season hosting the Paradise Classic from Feb. 8-11.
