HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team begins this week hosting the Hawai'i Invitational on Monday, January 9 at the UH Tennis Complex. Competing in the one day tourney with the Rainbow Warriors are California and No. 20 Duke. On Tuesday, Jan. 10, the Rainbow Warriors will take on No. 20 Duke who is led by the No. 4 player in the nation, Garrett Johns.

NEWS & NOTES
- Hawai'i fell in their season opener to No. 16 Florida State last Friday, 7-0. In the defeat, although the Rainbow Warriors lost the doubles point, UH's No. 1 doubles team of Andre Ilagan and Karl Collins won their match by a break defeating FSU's Antoine Cornut-Charuvinc and Barnaby Smith, 6-4.
- 41st-ranked Andre Ilagan looks to rebound after a tough, three-set loss to the Seminoles' 12th-ranked Cornut-Charuvinc
- Duke enters the season ranked tied at No. 20 with Pepperdine. In singles, they have three ranked players--No. 4 Garrett Johns, No. 84 Petro Rodenas, No. 101 Andrew Zhang. Their doubles pairing of Michael Heller and Zhang enter the year ranked No. 49. Last year, the Blue Devils fell in the second round of the NCAA Championships, while Johns advanced to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Singles Championships.
- Last season, California finished with an 11-10 overall record. They are led by 52nd-ranked Ryder Jackson in singles and 27th-ranked Yuta Kikuchi and Carl Emil Overbeck in doubles.
