Soccer Reveals 2022 Schedule with Seven Home Matches

HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i soccer team and head coach Michele Nagamine officially announced its 2022 schedule on Thursday, featuring a total of 17 matches, with seven to be played at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex.

The 2022 campaign brings a hint of a rarity as the Rainbow Wahine will begin the season on the road for the first time since 2012 with a trip to the state of Arizona. The season will start with an exhibition at Northern Arizona on August 14th, followed by the regular season opener at Grand Canyon on Aug. 18th, followed by a stop at Arizona State on Aug. 21st. The 'Bows have only started their seasons on the road twice in program history, the previously mentioned 2012 season, and during the program's inaugural season in 1994.

UH will return to the island of O'ahu to host their only two non-conference matches of the season with the OUTRIGGER Soccer Kickoff against Seattle and Nicholls State. The event will begin on Aug. 25th as the 'Bows will take on Seattle in the second game of a doubleheader, followed by a single match with Nicholls State on the 28th. Seattle will face off with Hawai'i Pacific on the 27th in a stand-alone match.

Big West Conference action will begin after a road trip to Oregon to finish the non-conference slate at Portland and Portland State. UH, and UC Davis will battle on September 15th as the 'Bows will work to turn around a 2-5-2 conference record from a year ago.

The back end of the schedule looks to benefit the 'Bows as three of the final four matches will be played at home. Running from October 16th to the 23rd, UH will host CSU Bakersfield, UC Riverside, and Cal State Fullerton. The season will conclude at UC Irvine on Oct. 27th.

Nagamine and staff return seven starters and 16 letterwinners from 2021, featuring Big-West Second Team member, senior midfielder Eliza Ammendolia and honorable mention, sophomore forward Kelci Sumida. In addition, the Bows welcome 10 newcomers to the program, including four transfers and six true freshmen.
