DAVIS, Calif. – The Hawai'i track and field team concluded the Big West Championships Saturday afternoon at UC Davis. The team had a historic day as they garnered 108 points to finish second. This result was the highest finish for Hawai'i ever in a championship event.
The Rainbow Wahine accrued ten podium finishes across the 21 scored events, with three first place, three second place, and four third place.
"We are so incredibly proud of this team and how they represented Hawai'i," said head coach
Tim Boyce. "Their efforts were unbelievable."
Freshman
Kiyah Bast started the day off on the podium in third place with a 145' 10" in the javelin. Fellow freshman teammate
Jessica Mackenzie took fifth place with 135' 7", and freshman
Lilian Turban came in just behind her in sixth with 134' 8". The three athletes amassed 13 points to jumpstart the historic day.

Kristen LaCosse, sophomore
Amy Warrington, sophomore
Alyssa Mae Antolin, and freshman
Ashley Babkirk secured second place and eight more points with a time of 46.98.
More points came from LaCosse as she took 7th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.53 and third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.01.
Sophomore
Sammie Gordon also placed in the 400m hurdles with a 1:04.70.
Warrington added three more with a 57.60 in the 400m and another one in the 200m with a time of 25.34 to bring UH's total to 50.
Alyssa Mae Antolin collected 18 points across the 100m and 200m dash. In the 100m, she finished second place with a time of 11.81 and continued her dominance in the 200m. After posting the fastest time since 2005 yesterday, she came back with an even faster one as she crossed the line at 23.79 for first place and ten points.
Turban improved her personal best by half an inch in the high jump as she cleared 5'10 1/2" to take second place. Her eight points put UH at 88, just two points outside of second place at the time.
It came down to crunch time for the 'Bows, and sophomore
Hallee Layman delivered, winning the discus event with a mark of 171'4" to keep the team within 2.5 points of second place.

Sammie Gordon,
Tierra Sydnor, and
Alyssa Mae Antolin, who came through when it mattered most and finished first. The squad crossed the line with an incredible time of 3:45.24, overtaking their previous best set earlier in the season. It now stands as the second-fastest time in school history. The final event resulted in 10 more points boosting the squad to 108 total points and second place.
The team now awaits results from the rest of the country to determine qualifications for the NCAA West Regional Prelims.
