HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i track and field team departs for Corvallis, Ore. for their final meet of the regular season at the OSU High Performance Meet.
This event marks the last chance for athletes to qualify for the Big West Championships in two weeks.
Many athletes have claimed their spot and hold top marks in the conference coming into the weekend. Sophomore
Alyssa Mae Antolin sits atop the leaderboards in the 200m with her 24.03 time she ran at Stanford at the beginning of the month.
Sophomore
Hallee Layman at last year's meet set a personal record of 160'7" in the discus. Since then, she has added over nine feet of distance to 169'6" this season, which places her as the top mark in the conference.
The UH relay teams that ran some of the fastest times in decades in both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay have times that sit second and third in the Big West.
Other individual marks that rest near the top include freshman
Lilian Turbans 5'10" high jump, that currently sits in second place.
Sophomore
Tierra Sydnor broke the 19'0" barrier in the long jump earlier this year at the Stanford Invitational, placing her in second position coming into the final weekend.
Rounding out top conference marks, senior
Kristen LaCosse's 1:01.00 time in the 400m hurdles sit comfortably in third.
With one final push towards making conference look to catch all the action starting at 7:00 am HT.
