The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team will be making its eighth NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship appearance and will face either Princeton or North Greenville in an opening round match, Tuesday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. PT at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles.
The defending national champion Rainbow Warriors (24-5) earned the Big West Conference's automatic berth after a 3-0 win over Long Beach State Saturday night in the conference tournament finals at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. The Beach earned the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and will face either host UCLA or Pepperdine in the semifinals.
The seven-team tournament begins with opening round matches on May 1 and 3 before the semifinals (May 5) and finals (May 7). Princeton and North Greenville open the tournament Sunday, May 1 with the winner facing UH in one of two opening round matches.
Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association champion Ball State (23-3) received the tournament's No. 2 seed and a bye into the semifinals where they will meet the winner of Hawai'i vs. Princeton/North Greenville.
Princeton earned the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association's automatic berth while North Greenville is Conference Carolina's representative. The two at-large selections went to Long Beach State and UCLA.
UH captured its first national title last season in Columbus, Ohio, defeating Brigham Young in the finals. The Warriors will be looking to become the fifth consecutive NCAA champion to repeat following Long Beach State (2018-19), Ohio State (2016-17), Loyola-Chicago (2014-15), and UC Irvine (2012-13).
