Track and Field Flirts With School History to Wrap Up California Trip

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's track and field team wrapped up their split weekend in Northern California at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic and Stanford Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Stanford Invitational
The track squad had a day as they ran near historic times in the 4x100 and 4x400. The 4x100 team comprised senior Kristen LaCosse, sophomore Amy Warrington, sophomore Alyssa Mae Antolin, and freshman Caitlin Simmons ran a blistering 46.38, the third-fastest time in school history and the fastest time since 1984, as they took second place in the event. The 4x400 team of Warrington, LaCosse, Antolin, and sophomore Sammie Gordon, posted a time of 3:47.25, enough for a fifth-place and second fastest in UH history. The 4x400 mark now leads the conference.

Antolin continued to take the momentum into her event, where she took fourth place in the 200m and crossed the line at 24.03, the fastest time since 2005 moving her into third all-time for Hawai'i.

For the field squad, two athletes, senior Kate Borsz and sophomore Hallee Layman claimed second and fourth in the hammer throw event this weekend. Boris took the higher of the two with a divot marked at 162'5", while throw measured layman's at 154'8".

Mike Fanelli Track Classic
Freshman Helen Hoadley put out her personal best in the pole vault as she surpassed the 12'6.25" high bar and earned herself a second-place finish. Fellow freshman Natasha Tehrani came in just outside the top-5 with a height of 11'6.50".

On Saturday, Sophomore Anna Marx claimed fourth place in the high jump as she cleared the 5'0.25" mark.

The Rainbow Wahine return in a week and a half where they will split between four events across four days in California, beginning with the Mt. Sac Relays on April 13-16, Bryan Clay Invitational on April 13-15, the Pacific Coast Collegiate on April 14, and the Beach Invitational on April 15-16.
