LONG BEACH, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i track and field team concluded day one of the Beach Invitational Friday afternoon at Jack Rose Track.
Sophomore
Tierra Sydnor in the high jump cleared 5'5.25" as she won her high jump section and qualified for the Big West Championships.
Sophomore
Hallee Layman continued her strong road trip performance with a 169'4" hammer throw catapulting her to ninth on the all-time list at UH.
Freshman
Helen Hoadley showed out in the pole vault as she cleared 12'4", enough to earn a tie for second place. Fellow vaulter sophomore
Natasha Tehrani also placed in the top-5 as she cleared 11'10, a season-best.
Freshman
Kiyah Bast and junior
Kathryn Philpott improved on their javelin performances from Thursday. Bast tossed a 133'7", adding five more feet, while Philpott added twelve to her throw from earlier in the week at 114'9".
Rounding out the competitors was freshman
Sam North in the 5000m, who came in just outside the top-10 at number 11 with a time of 18:51.17.
The Rainbow Wahine return for the fourth and final day of the competition Saturday.
