SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i track and field team wrapped up their second day of competition in California.
 
Stanford Invitational
UH had another successful day of competitions with more final appearances, a first-place finish, and more top marks.
 
Another first-place finish for freshman jumper Lilian Turban came from clearing the 5'10" mark in the high jump, the same mark that led the NCAA for two weeks earlier in the season. She also scooped up a second-place finish in the shot put with an imprint of 40'9.5."
 
Senior Kristen LaCosse had a third-place finish in the 400m hurdles at 1:01.58. Lacosse also made the finals in the 100m hurdles. Her teammate, sophomore Samantha Gordon, finished seventh overall in the 400m hurdles, set a personal record at 1:02.55, and earned herself a spot in the Big West Championships later this year.
 
Freshman Helen Hoadley finished second in the pole vault clearing the bar at 12' 3.5", and punched her ticket to the conference championships.
 
Sophomore Tierra Sydnor fell short of a first-place finish in the long jump but cleared 19'0", plenty of distance to bring home second for UH.
 
Mike Fanelli Track Classic
Only freshman Samantha North competed for the Rainbow Wahine at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on Friday, where she posted an 18:23.23 in the 5000m.
 
The competition resumes tomorrow at 6:30 am HT.
