WAIMEA, Hawai'i – Freshmen
Tyler Ogawa and
Pierce Braun each carded 1-under 71 in the final round of the Amer Ari Invitational Saturday at the Hāpuna Golf Club.
The duo helped the Rainbow Warriors post a tournament-best 292 for a 893 total and 17
th place finish.
Ogawa totaled 3-over 219 over the three-day event and a tie for 77
th while Braun tied for 101
st at 12-over 228. UH's top finisher was
Ratio Visuttipinate who carded a final round 74 and posted a 1-under 215 total and tie for 58
th place.
Junior
AJ Teraoka and freshman
Garrett Takeuchi rounded out the team score. Teraoka posted 4-over 76 and Takeuchi was forced to withdraw. Competing as individuals were freshmen
Isaiah Kanno (79; 111
th) and
Jake Sequin (81; 112
th).
Oklahoma State rallied to edge Texas Tech for the team title. The Cowboys shot a tournament-best 264 for an 814 total, one stroke better than the Red Raiders, who carded a final round 275. OSU's Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra shot 10-under 62 and captured medalist honors with a 19-under 197 total.
The Rainbow Warriors will next host the John Burns Intercollegiate, Thursday, Feb. 17-Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Ocean Course Hokuala in Līhu'e, Kaua'i.
