HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i softball team swept its exhibition doubleheader against Chaminade of Friday night at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. The Rainbow Wahine defeated the Silverswords, 4-0 in the opener and then broke out for 16 hits in the second game for a 12-2 five inning win.

UH quickly jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first,
Brittnee Rossi drew a bases loaded walk for UH's first run.
Chloe Borges drilled a single up the middle to drive in two runs and
Izabella Martinez followed with a sacrifice fly to left to score Rossi from third.
UH's pitchers
Chloe Borges and
Brianna Lopez combined for the shutout. Borges did not give up a run in five innings of work as she earned the win. She allowed three hits with four walks and four strikeouts.
Brianna Lopez came in and tossed the final two frames. She gave up two hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
Maya Nakamura and Borges both went 2-for-3 to lead UH's offense. One of Borges' two hits was a two-RBI double.
Chaminade's Jaeda Cabunoc took the loss, throwing the first four innings, allowing four runs on six hits with four walks. Taylor Genera came in relief and did not allow a run in the last two innings with one strikeout.

Hawai'i racked up 16 hits in the second game with 11 different players picking up at least one hit each.
Casey Beaulac led the charge, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBI.
Nawai Kaupe and
Dallas Millwood both went 2-for-3 and Rossi Was 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles.
Chaminade jumped out to a 2-0 to start the game. The Silverswords got an RBI groundout from Kobe Brown and an RBI single by Malia Moise.
Hawai'i answered right back.
Mikaela Gandia-Mak started things with a one-out double and
Maya Nakamura drew a walk to put runners at first and second. UH then strung four-straight RBI-hits together by
Dallas Millwood,
Mya'Liah Bethea,
Brittnee Rossi, and
Casey Beaulac.
Millwood picked up her second RBI with a single to center that drove in
Nawai Kaupe to give UH a 6-2 lead.
The Rainbow Wahine added three more runs in the third to take a 9-2
Ka'ena Keliinoi hit a deep sacrifice fly to center to drive in Rossi, who led the inning off with her second double of the game. Later,
Chloee Agueda then laced a double to right to drive in both Kaupe and Beaulac.
In the fourth, UH kept the pedal to the metal, as they extended their lead to 12-2. After a pop-out, UH's pinch-hitters powered the 'Bows with
Kaeli Bush,
Cira Bartolotti,
Piper Neri and
Alyssa Nakagawa all picking up hits. Beaulac followed Bartolotti's double with a double of her to drive in two runs. Neri then lifted an opposite-field single to left to score Beaulac.
UH's
Ashley Murphy earned the complete-game win, allowing two runs on three hits with a walk and a strikeout.
Chaminade's starter, Taylor Genera suffered the loss after throwing just one inning. She allowed five runs on five hits with a walk. Cabunoc threw the next 2-2/3 innings, allowing seven runs on 10 hits while Charlize De Jesus got the final out.
Hawai'i will open its official home season from Feb. 24-26 with the Outrigger Hawai'i Invitational Montana, Abilene Christian and North Dakota will all be coming to Honolulu for the tourney.
