KAPOLEI, O'ahu – University of Hawai'i sophomore
Mayumi Umezu placed third at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational following Wednesday's final round at the Kapolei Golf Club.
The Waimea, Hawai'i native shot 5-under 67 to finish the three-day tournament at 4-under 212. The third place finish was the best of her collegiate career while her 212 total was also her 54-hole low. Umezu carded six birdies in her final 18, including a stretch of three straight on her front nine to post the best score of the day.
Umezu finished one stroke behind co-medalists Cassie Kim of Gonzaga and Colorado State's Sofia Torres, the latter of whom birdied her final hole to claim a share of the championship. Umezu and CSU's Andrea Bergsdottir (72) tied for third place.
Sophomore
Hyeonji Kang birdied her final three holes to finish 2-under 70 and solo fifth place at 2-under 214 for the tournament and her career 54-hole low.
Colorado State captured the team title at 7-under 857 followed by Gonzaga (871), College of Charleston (873), Sacramento State (879) and UH (887).
Freshman
Wendy Song also shot 70, a new single round season-low, to finish in a tie for 35
th place at 228. Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine were sophomore

th).
Focus Jonglikit (236, t-61
st) and
Ting-Yu Liu (252, 75
th) also competed as individuals.
The Rainbow Wahine will conclude the fall season with their annual trip to Hawai'i Island for the Nanea Pac-12 Preview, Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in Kailua-Kona.
