Box Score HONOLULU - Led by freshman
Lara Luka, the No. 6 University of Hawaii water polo team beat No. 9 UC Davis 7-5 in the final conference game of the regular season. With the win, UH clinched the Big West Conference regular season title.
It was a slow start, as the first period remained scoreless until Luka fired a reverse shot and scored one second before the horn.
Luka started the second period with a penalty shot inside the first thirty seconds. The Aggies got back within one with a goal, but UH remained in the lead.
After trading two goals a piece to start the second half, the Aggies went on a 2-0 run to pull away and take their first lead of the game.
The Rainbow Wahine were not finished as freshman Lucia Gomez de le Puente and junior
Carmen Baringo fired off back-to-back goals to retake the lead. Freshman
Lot Stertefeld solidified the win by adding to the 3-0 run leaving UC Davis scoreless in the fourth quarter.
Luka finished finished with a game-high three goals and had four steals. Junior
Molly DiLalla recorded nine saves and one steal while Baringo finished the night with two goals and three steals.
