Wahine Welcome Beach for Delayed Home Opener

HONOLULU – For the first time in the 2021 season, the University of Hawaii women's water polo team hosts Long Beach State for a two-game series at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex. After the cancelation of the UC Irvine series the prior weekend, the Wahine are ready to get back into action.

The 'Bows will face the Beach in the second conference matchup of the season. The last time the two teams competed was in 2019 due to the cancelation of many games in the past season. The Wahine hold the lead for the all-time series record of 27-7. The team looks to continue its three-game win streak against LBSU.

With an overall record of 1-1, the Rainbow Wahine are looking to make a comeback in Big West Conference play as they are currently 0-1 after falling short in the season opener to UCSD.

Junior Molly DiLalla has claimed her starting spot as the goalie while Redshirt junior Lalelei Mata'afa and freshman Lucia Gomez de la Puenta are expected to be big contributors as they lead the team in scoring against UCSD.

The first sprint will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday televised on Spectrum Sports followed by 12 p.m. on Saturday.
