HONOLULU, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team will play three matches over three days including a pair of Big West contests at the UH Tennis Complex.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will begin the homestand with a two-match series against UC San Diego Thursday, March 25 at 5:00 p.m., and Friday, March 26 at 12:00 p.m. Thursday's match will count toward the Big West standings. The homestand concludes with another conference match-up against Cal Poly Saturday, March 27 at 11:00 a.m.

Hawai'i (2-2) confidently carries on its 2021 schedule after picking up a close 4-3 home win over Big West opponent CSUN last Sunday where freshman Lea Roman clinched the match with a three-set singles win. Overall, seniors Petra Melounova and Nikola Dolakova lead the team in singles wins with two. In doubles, sophomore Alexis Merrill and Melounova each sports a team-leading two doubles wins. 

UH will be facing UCSD (1-2) for the first time in program history. The Tritons made their Division I debut this season after moving up from Division II. Coming in with one of the youngest rosters in the conference, UCSD recently captured its first Division I win against Portland State (4-1) after previously falling to San Diego and Cal State Fullerton earlier in their season.

Following the UCSD series, the Rainbow Wahine will then be put to the test with a match-up against Cal Poly (8-0), who brings with them an eight-match win streak. Hawai'i last played Cal Poly in 2019, winning 5-2 and adding to a four-match win streak over the Mustangs. Cal Poly has won seven of eight doubles points in its matches this season, with its No. 3 duo Dominique Stone and MacKenzie Worsnop capturing all seven doubles points.

The Cal Poly match will mark the halfway point of the Rainbow Wahine's 2021 season.
