IRVINE, Calif. – Four members of the University of Hawai'i women's tennis team have been recognized by The Big West for their performances on the court. Hawai'i's No. 1 (
Grete Gull/
Sophie Rachor) and No. 2 (
Hannah Galindo/
Makeilah Nepomuceno) doubles teams both were named to the All-Big West Second Team, while Gull and Nepomuceno both earned honorable mention accolades in singles as selected by the conference's 10 head coaches.
Gull and Rachor provided stability at the top of the doubles lineup. The pair finished the season with an even 8-8 dual-match record and mirrored the success of their teammates with a 6-3 record against Big West opponents.
Galindo and Nepomuceno proved to be the most consistent force for the Rainbow Wahine this season. Competing primarily at the No. 2 position, the duo compiled a 10-7 overall record, including a strong 6-3 mark in conference play. They ended the season having won seven of their last ten matches.
In singles, Gull, a freshman from Kuressaare, Estonia competed at the No. 1 spot for the duration of the season, Gull battled through a rigorous schedule to post two conference victories. Her contributions at the top of the lineup were vital in UH's wins over Sacramento State and UC Riverside.
Nepomuceno, a sophomore from Roseville, Calif., complemented her doubles success with a resilient singles campaign. Competing at the No. 2 spot, she posted a 6-10 overall record and a 5-4 mark in conference action.
