Box Score HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i softball team took care of business Sunday, knocking off Chaminade University 6-2 in a planned doubleheader exhibition at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. Game two was canceled due to inclement weather and field conditions.
 
Repeating what she did the day before, junior shortstop Nawai Kaupe slugged a three-run bomb over the left-field wall in the bottom of the first to get the day started for the Rainbow Wahine. Kaupe, the top returning hitter for the 'Bows, finished her day going 2-for-2 with a walk, wrapping up the series at 6-for-7, and six runs batted in.
 
Freshman second baseman Rachel Sabourin added another big hit in the series, connecting for a triple in the bottom of the third, driving in Kaupe for a 5-0 lead after a lengthy hour-long rain delay. In the same inning, junior designated player Sammie Ofoia lined a double to the right center field wall for her second double of the series. Ofoia's double drove in freshman first baseman Mya'liah Bethea to extend the lead to 6-0. Both Ofoia and Betha went 2-for-2 on the afternoon.
 
Freshman pitcher Jetta Nannen picked up the win in the exhibition, throwing five innings, allowing one earned run, and accounting for four strikeouts. Junior Ashley Murphy pitched two innings in relief, allowing one earned run to the Silverswords, and struck out one.
 
UH will be in action on Thursday with their first regular-season game, kicking off a three-game series with No. 5 Washington.
