— After playing a trio of games on the mainland, the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team (3-3) returns for six straight home games, beginning with a matchup versus cross-town rival Hawai'i Pacific (3-4) on Wednesday, Dec. 8 . Tipoff is 7 p.m. at the SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
The December home slate will be UH's first athletic events to welcome both vaccinated fans and unvaccinated fans—including children—with a valid test. Food and beverage also will now be served at the arena. Either vaccination card and/or negative test must be uploaded to the
LumiSight UH app.

GAME STORY LINES
- UH is coming off a 1-2 showing on the mainland. UH played three games in six days on the road, splitting a pair of games at the Las Vegas Classic versus Illinnois-Chicago (W, 88-80) and South Alabama (L, 72-69), before falling at Santa Clara, 70-58, on Nov. 30.
- This will be just the sixth regular-season meeting between UH and Hawai'i Pacific. Four of the meetings have occurred in the last seven years.
- UH is 23-2 all-time against Hawai'i Division II teams in regular-season action, including a victory over UH Hilo (97-67) in the 2021-22 season-opener.
- The contest will count towards the win-loss record for the Rainbow Warriors, however, the game will serve as an exhibition for the Sharks.
- HPU associate coach Jesse Nakanishi spent three years with the Rainbow Warriors as director of operations before returning to HPU this past summer for his second stint with the Sharks.
- UH was out-rebound for the first time this year at Santa Clara (38-35), but still ranks 19th nationally in rebound margin (+9.2)
- Junior center Mate Colina, who has recorded back-to-back double-doubles, has averaged 17.0 ppg and 9.0 rpg the last three contests, while shooting 64% from the floor
- Sophomore point guard JoVon McClanahan has averaged 11.3 ppg and 6.7 apg the last three contests, including 12 points and a career-high nine assists in UH's last game at Santa Clara.
- Nine different 'Bows have scored in double-digits in a game this year, while five different players have earned high scoring honors in UH's six games.
- Following its game versus HPU, UH will have a near 14-day break until the start of the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic on Dec. 22. The Rainbow Warriors will open the tournament against Vanderbilt.
