HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i baseball team released its 2022 schedule which features a 52-game slate in new head coach
Rich Hill's inaugural campaign.
Among the 52 games, 27 will be inside the bounds of Les Murakami Stadium with three non-conference teams and five Big West Conference foes scheduled to visit. The Rainbow Warriors open with a four-game series against Washington State, Feb. 18-21. UH will host the Cougars for the second time in three years after splitting a four-game series in 2020.
The following weekend, UH will travel out west for its first appearance in the Tony Gwynn Classic in San Diego, which features a 12-team field. Match-ups and times will be announced later. The 'Bows will also stick around for a single non-conference game at San Diego State, Feb. 28.
The non-conference lineup also consists of a pair of four-game series at The Les against national powerhouse Vanderbilt (March 4-6) and Rutgers (March 11-13). The Commodores fell a game short of repeating as College World Series champions last year. The non-conference schedule doesn't end there. The 'Bows have three more midweek games, following Big West series, scheduled at USC, April 4, at Fresno State, April 19, and at Cal Baptist, May 23. UH will also play a three-game set at UNLV, May 6-8, marking the first meeting between the programs since 2013.
With no bye week in the cards this year and the return of three-game conference series, the 'Bows will open Big West play on the road at Long Beach State, March 18-20. Hawai'i's other conference road trips include UC Santa Barbara, April 1-3, Cal State Bakersfield, April 14-16, UC Davis, April 22-24, and UC San Diego, May 20-22.
The Rainbow Warriors will host conference series with UC Irvine, March 25-27, UC Riverside April, 8-10, Cal State Fullerton, April 29-May 1, CSUN, May 13-15, and Cal Poly, May 26-28, the latter of whom will close out the home schedule and regular season.
