HONOLULU—Senior shortstop
Nawai Kaupe launched a three run homerun to help lift the University of Hawai'i softball team to a 7-0 victory over Chaminade in the Fall Preseason Classic Tournament opener. For the first time since March 2020, softball fans were welcomed into the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium and were able to watch live.

Brittnee Rossi led the game off with a single before being quickly driven in by junior first baseman
Dallas Millwood. Senior
Mikaela Gandia-Mak blasted the first homer of the fall with a solo shot in the second inning. The 'Bows would be held scoreless over the next two innings before Kaupe extended the lead with a three-run shot to right-centerfield.
The 'Bows would pick up two additional insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Three players notched multiple hits in the game, including, Rossi, Millwood, and sophomore utility player
Maya Nakamura.
Freshman pitcher Chloe Borges saw four innings of work in her Rainbow Wahine debut this afternoon. She allowed one hit with four walks, and four strikeouts in her first collegiate win. Fellow freshman Brianna Lopez came in relief for the final three innings notching her first save. She gave up one hit, two walks, and stuck out three.
