HONOLULU - Through intermittent showers, the University of Hawai'i women's tennis team continued the Ānuenue Invitational against HPU on Thursday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex.
The afternoon started with doubles action. UH's Alexis Merrill and Nidhi Surapaneni challenging HPU's Elodie Busson and Marleen Tilgner while UH's Lea Romain and Gitte Heynemans went up against HPU's Marta Ruszczynska and Rikona Murakami. After a rain delay and multiple rainbow sightings, doubles finished with Merrill and Surapaneni holding off Busson and Tilgner by a break, 8-6. On the adjacent court, Romain and Heynemans also edged out Ruszczynska and Murakami, 8-7.
In intrasquad competition, UH's Talya Zandberg and Satsuki Takamura took down UH's Madison Kim and Jessalyn Lopez, 8-2.
Singles play was underway but inclement weather caused matches to be suspended until tomorrow, Friday Oct. 15. Matches will start again at 3:30 p.m.
