HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i softball team (9-13) concludes their 16-game/three three-tournament homestand this week as they host the Bank of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Classic from Wednesday, March 11-Saturday, March 14, 2020. Texas Tech, Minnesota, Drexel and Hawai'i will be competing in the four-day tournament.

Also "Bank of Hawaii" t-shirts will be thrown into the stands at the fourth inning of each UH game during the Bank of Hawaii Rainbow Classic.
TELEVISION: Spectrum Sports will be only broadcast UH's doubleheader on Wednesday, March 11 against Texas Tech and Minnesota. Scott Robbs (play-by-play) and Lori Santi (color analyst) will handle the broadcast.

NOTES:
- The Rainbow Wahine most recently went 1-5 in the Outrigger Hotels & Resorts Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament, notching a six-inning,11-3 win over Nevada, but falling in their other five games in the tourney.
- Senior catcher/first baseman Callee Heen led UH with a .353 batting average with a team-high six hits in 17 at bats. She led the 'Bows with two home runs (both coming in the win over Nevada) and tied Nawai Kaupe with three runs scored. Heen led UH with a slugging percentage of .706 and an on-base percentage of .476. Junior leftfielder Bree Soma hit .308 going 4-for-13 at the plate with four RBI and a slugging percentage of .538 while Kaupe hit .278 (5-for-18) with two doubles, and three runs scored.
- The pitching staff recorded a 4.44 ERA in the last tournament. Isabella "Izzy" Dino went 1-0, throwing a complete game in the win over Nevada with a 3.50 ERA. Ashley Murphy went 0-2 with a 4.40 ERA while Jetta Nannen was 0-3 with a 7.18 ERA in three appearances. Emily Klee made three appearances and recorded a 0.00 ERA in 5.2 innings pitched. She held opponents to a .125 batting average while in the circle.
- Power surge - As a team, the Rainbow Wahine are hitting .283 with a slugging percentage of .472. Fifty-four of the team's 111 hits have gone for extra-bases with 22 doubles, five triples and 27 home runs. Forty-nine of UH's 111 runs scored have come via the team's 27 home runs. Even after the week off, UH ranks No. 15 in the NCAA DI in home runs and the defense is ranked No. 20 in the nation in double plays. Hawai'i leads the league in home runs per game.
- Shortstop Nawai Kaupe continues to lead UH with a .364 overall batting average. She has a team-high 24 hits and is second on the team with 15 runs scored, six home runs, a .682 slugging percentage and a .455 on-base percentage. She had a team-best nine-game hitting streak between Feb. 8-Feb. 20. The junior transfer is also tied for second on the team with four multiple-RBI games and tied for third with five multiple-hit games. Against San Jose State (2/15), she went 4-for-4 with a double and a home run at the Golden State Classic tournament.
- In the last tournament, Heen passed former UH All-American Kate Robinson to rise to No. 4 on UH's career home run list. Heen hit two home runs in UH's win over Nevada to propel her past Robinson with her 44th and 45th home runs of Heen's career. Heen also remains at No. 5 with 82 career walks. Currently, ahead of Heen at No. 4 with 100 career walks is Jessica Iwata. This year, Heen is hitting second on the team hitting .349 (22-for-63) with a team-high seven home runs, 23 RBI, 12 walks, a .746 slugging percentage, and a .481 on-base percentage. Heen leads the team with five multiple RBI tames and is tied with Angelique Ramos with six multple-hit games.
- After Week 3, rookie Rachel Sabourin, who plays second base, hit .556 during the Hawaii Invitational to earn all-tournament honors. She went 5-for-9 at the plate with a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Against Portland State in the tourney opener, she recorded a career-high three hits, going 3-for-4 at the plate. She followed that by going 1-for-2 with a double and a run to help UH defeat Kansas City 5-1. In the rematch against the Roos, she hit safely in her third consecutive game, going 1-for-3. Last season, Mikaela Gandia-Mak (Feb. 11) and Isabella "Izzy" Dino (Feb 25) were the only two Rainbow Wahine to earn the Freshman of the Week honor in its inaugural season.
- Overall, the UH pitching staff is led by junior reliever Emily Klee, who has a 3.50 ERA in 10.0 innings pitched. Sophomore starter Dino is 4-4 with a 3.82 ERA with 23 strikeouts to 10 walks in 51.1 innings, while fellow sophomore starter Ashley Murphy is 4-5 with a 4.60 ERA in 56.1 innings pitched.
