HONOLULU — The University of Hawaiʻi water polo will face their first Big West Conference match of the season on the road against UC San Diego on Friday, March 13 in La Jolla, California. Following, the Rainbow Wahine will compete in the Aztec Invitational Saturday and Sunday.
Hawaiʻi leads the Tritons in the all-time series 24-3 and most recently played UCSD early last season. The 'Bows had a fast start as the team scored five of the game's first six goals to build up to a 10-7 victory. San Diego's senior, Jensee Ransom scored a team-high of two goals. While junior
Carmen Baringo, also recorded two goals that game and will look to lead the team once again.
Coming off a two week hiatus and tough loss to UCLA the 'Bows are filled with fire and preparation to get back on track.
Sophomore
Alba Bonamusa Boix leads the way offensively as she is a killer in scoring and assists. Bonamusa Boix had her best game of the season with six goals against UC Davis.
Sophomore
Szonja Kuna has been a dominant attacker throughout the season, but her defense has also proven to be a bright spot as she leads the team in steals. Goalies, junior
Molly DiLalla and sophomore
Bridget Layburn continue to be forces as they tally 40 or more goals a piece playing in 10 or less games.
As the 11-2 'Bows look to put an end to their two-game losing streak, the team will take on this weekend for a turnaround. The first sprint of the game will face-off at 3 p.m. HT.
