Hawai'i Heads to Albuquerque for Big Meet

The University of Hawai'i track and field team heads back to the mainland for the second time this season to take part in the University of New Mexico Collegiate Classic Friday and Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M.

Hawai'i will send a contingent of 20 athletes to a highly competitive meet at the site of the NCAA Indoor and USA Indoor Championships at 5,300-feet altitude.

Junior Kristen LaCosse looks to build on her indoor school record in the long jump that she tied in Idaho. LaCosse will also compete in the 60-meter hurdles and in the 1,600-meter relay.

Freshman Jessica Eagle is also coming off a nice collegiate debut in Nampa and will look to lead the sprinter squad in New Mexico.

Competition gets underway Friday, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. HT with the women's weight throw. Saturday events begin at 7 a.m. with the women's shot put.

The meet will be live streamed through FloTrack (subscription req.).
