IRVINE, Calif.—University of Hawai'i sophomore
Andre Ilagan captured his second career Big West Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week award after going a perfect 4-0 in singles and doubles in a two-match series with Saint Mary's.
Ilagan helped lead the Rainbow Warriors to 5-2 and 6-1 victories over the Gaels to give first-year head coach Joel Kusnierz his first home wins.
Ilagan posted two victories at No. 1 singles over James Watt, defeating the Gael 6-2, 6-4 on the first day, and following up with a 6-4, 6-1 decision.
In doubles, Ilagan paired with
Lucas Labrunie for a couple of wins over the Saint Mary's tandem of Watt and Boris Reckow. The UH duo edged out the opposing pair on day one, winning a tiebreaker by a 7-6 (3) score. In the rematch the UH duo defeated Watt and Reckow, 6-2.
In dual matches, Ilagan is now 4-3 in singles and 5-2 in doubles for the year.
