The University of Hawai'i track and field team returns to Nampa, Idaho for the second time this season to compete in the Boise State Challenge Feb. 14-15 as the indoor season winds down. The Rainbow Wahine will compete indoors twice more, including this weekend, before the outdoor season begins.
Wahine have either set or tied school records in each of the past two meets with senior Teuila Garnder breaking a seven year old 600-meter record this past weekend at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque, N.M. Gardner ran the three laps around the 200-meter banked track in 1 minute 35.57 seconds to break the previous record by almost three full seconds.Â

Kristen LaCosse who tied a 15-year old long jump record the last time the Bows were in Nampa, Idaho two weeks prior. LaCosse jumped 5.80 meters in the long jump and improved her indoor personal best by 0.43 meters (17 inches). LaCosse also had a strong day in the 200-meter dash at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic this past weekend, running 25.17 in the event for the program's top mark in 2020.Â
Gardner and LaCosse have also run on the fastest 1,600-meter relay team that Hawai'i has posted this season.Â
The Bows will compete in the two-day event in Nampa, Idaho before taking a week off and then returning to the mainland for the MPSFÂ Indoor Track and Field Championships in Seattle, Wash.
