Box Score TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of Hawai'i water polo team cruised to an 18-1 victory against Cal State East Bay Pioneers 18-1 in the Cross Conference Challenge at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center in Tempe, Ariz.

Szonja Kuna completed the day with six goals and redshirt junior
Lalelei Mata'afa finished with four. The 'Bows had a stellar shooting day with 17 goals on 27 attempts while the Pioneers were held to 1-21. This was the lowest an opposing team has scored in a win since March 12, 2018 against Sonoma State.
The Wahine ended the first frame leading 5-0 with Kuna led the team with two goals. Sophomore
Alba Bonamusa Boix scored the first goal of the game in the first 30 seconds.
Hawai'i held the Pioneers scoreless in the first half, 9-0. Layburn recorded one save due to fantastic team defense. Kuna added two more goals in the second period while redshirt freshman
Rebecca Buenrostro-Gallimore netted her sixth goal of the season.
Ending the third, UH led 16-0 with an attacking offense and a relentless defense. Bonamusa Boix scored her second goal of the game in the first 20 seconds to start the second half. The Wahine nearly scored every minute of the third frame. Kuna and Mata'afa both tallied two goals apiece while freshman
Lara Luka recorded her first goal as a 'Bow.
East Bay was held scoreless until the last two minutes of the game. Not holding anything back, Mata'afa scored one of the two team goals recorded in the fourth period.
