Honolulu- For the first time this season, senior guard
Julissa Tago of the University of Hawai'i women's basketball team has been selected as the Big West Conference Player of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Tago helped lead the Rainbow Wahine (8-9, 2-2) to a 2-0 record over the weekend by knocking off UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton. She averaged 15.5 points over the two games, including 3.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds.
Her standout performance came against the Highlanders, where she accounted for 21 points, hitting 8-of-16 from the floor and pulled down four rebounds. Tago is currently on a four-game streak of double-digit scoring, including two 20 plus point performance during the stretch.
The weekly award is the first of Tago's career and marks the first conference award for her since being named to the All-Freshman squad in 2017. She currently leads the team with 12.5 points per game, while being one of just two players to start every game this season.
Tago and the 'Bows will be back in action later this week as she will try to continue her hot streak with stops at Long Beach State and UC Riverside.
