SPRINGVILLE, Utah – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team completed the season-opening Hobble Creek Fall Classic in 16
thplace following a final round 309 Tuesday at the Hobble Creek Golf Course.
The Rainbow Wahine totaled 917 for the tournament, which was won by fellow Big West Conference member Cal State Fullerton (878). CSUF edged New Mexico State by one stroke for the team title.
UH's top finisher was sophomore
Haruka Shintani, who carded a final round 76 and tied for 42
ndplace at 227. Junior
Sahara Washington also posted 76 and tied for 46
thwith a 228 total.
The Rainbow Wahine competed with only four golfers on Tuesday as senior
Malia Ebersberger was forced to withdraw. Senior
Megan Ratcliffe shot 78 for a 230 total and a tie for 58
th. Junior
Tyra Tonkham carded 79 and finished in a tie for 62
ndplace at 232.
Wyoming's Cristiana Ciasca and California Baptist's Jocelyn Chee shared medalist honors at even par 213. Ciasca posted the low round of the day with a 3-under 68 while Chee shot 2-over 73.
The Rainbow Wahine will next compete in the Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate, Sept. 28-29 in Palm Desert, Calif.
