Former University of Hawai'i men's volleyball student-athlete Stijn van Tilburg was picked to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Men's At-Large Third Team, which was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
Van Tilburg was one of 47 student-athletes, who were selected to the first, second, and third teams. Among the list, he was one of only two representing the sport of men's volleyball, along with Brigham Young's Miki Jauhiainen.
 
The at-large teams for the Google Cloud Academic All-America program include the sports of beach volleyball, bowling, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, rowing, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis, water polo, and wrestling. 
 
Van Tilburg is the 25^thAcademic All-American in school history and the fourth men's volleyball player joining Dejan Miladinovic (2002), Costas Theocharidis (2002 & '03), and Jonas Umlauft (2011).
 
Last month, van Tilburg was selected to the Academic All-District 8 first team. In addition, the Amsterdam, Netherlands native earned his third AVCA All-America first-team award this past season, becoming just the second UH player to do so. He finished second on the team in kills per set (3.82) and ranked No. 2 nationally in hitting percentage (.457). His 1,410 career kills ranks No. 7 all-time in program history.
