University of Hawai'i men's volleyball student-athlete
Stijn van Tilburg was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 Men's At-Large first team.
Van Tilburg was one of 10 student-athletes who were recognized and is the first UH men's volleyball player selected to the list since Taylor Averill in 2015.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District teams are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada. District 8 includes the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawai'i, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, and Canada.
The 10 honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot. First-, second-, and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America honorees will be announced in June. Van Tilburg will attempt to become just the fourth UH player to earn Academic All-America honors joining Dejan Miladinovic (2002), Costas Theocharidis (2002 & '03), and Jonas Umlauft (2011).
The senior from Amsterdam, Netherlands earned his third AVCA All-America first-team award this past season, becoming just the second UH player to do so. He finished second on the team in kills per set (3.82) and ranked No. 2 nationally in hitting percentage (.457). His 1,410 career kills ranks No. 7 all-time in program history.
